Vishwakarma Jayanti is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and the creator of the world. He is the son of world creator, Lord Brahma and has created all the palaces where God used to live. He has created sthapatya veda, the science of mechanics and architecture, the holy place Dwarka, currently in Gujarat where Lord Krishna ruled, Maya Sabha of Pandavas and has created many weapons for God and Goddess. He has created heaven, Indraprastha (palace of Lord Indra), Lanka (palace of Ravana) and Hastinapur (war between Kauravas and Pandavas held)


Vishwakarma Jayanti is celebrated on 16th or 17th September every year or the last day of Bhaadra month according to the North India Hindu calendar as the birthday of seventh Dhramaputra of Brahma. On this day Lord Surya travels from Leo to Virgo zodiac sign.

The festival is celebrated in Tripura, Uttarpradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Karnataka, Assam, and West Bengal. It is also known as Kanya Sankranti or Bhaadra Sankranti, and in the year 2023 Vishwakarma Jayanti falls on 17th September. Architects, craftsmen, engineers, artisans mechanics worshipped him and performed puja in their factory or industrial setup for success and prosperity in their business.


The puja is done by placing the idol of Lord Vishwakarma in factories and industries. They organize Hawans or Yagnas and offer flowers, water, and prasad to Lord Vishwakarma and machinery and tools of factories and industries.
