EU: What next after Irish say ‘NO’?

EU: What next after Irish say ‘NO’?

Introduction: The Lisbon Treaty seems dead in the water as Irish voters have rejected the EU treaty in a referendum. Ireland was the only one of the 27 EU member states obliged by law to hold a referendum on the Treaty. The other 26 nations have already put the treaty to a vote or plan to simply ratify it in Parliament.

Incidentally, Ganesha, in an earlier post, had predicted that the Lisbon Treaty would throw a spanner in the works of the European Union.

Let us discuss the fate of the treaty through astrological analysis.

In the chart of the Lisbon Treaty (revised EU Constitution), the Saturn-Ketu conjunction in the 7th house is suggesting strong differences between the allies. The transiting Saturn is moving closely over the Ascendant Lord Saturn and the 10th house Lord Mars is debilitated moving with Ketu is indicating strong opposition regarding the structure of the Treaty and the movement began with the Irish referendum.

In British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s chart the transiting Rahu is moving over the natal Mercury and Saturn in the 6th house opposing Sun-Rahu which may create tensions. He is also passing through the Mars-Rahu period and Rahu is placed in the 12th house with Sun, which may create tough conditions till the end of September this year.

The treaty will not be applicable until and unless it is accepted by each of the EU’s 27 members and now it is up to each country to choose the procedure for ratification, in line with its own national constitution. The target date for ratification set by member nations is January 1, 2009. But the planetary influences are not conducive particularly till the end of September 2008 and the impact is visible in the Irish referendum. Gordon Brown may have a big headache over the government’s plans to ratify a key European Union reform treaty and it will be damaging for Brown.

There will be a huge roadblock and major dieagreements regarding the structure and motives of the organization which might lead to a change in the structure. There will be rectification or amendments in the constitution again due to internal disputes around March 2009, portends Ganesha.
