Will the formation of Telangana, a new Indian state, augur an end to the political and social unrest in Andhra Pradesh?

The Southern state of Andhra attained statehood on 1st November 1953, with Kurnool as its capital. On November 1st, 1956 it was merged with the Telangana region of the former Hyderabad State to form the united Telugu-speaking state of Andhra Pradesh – the state that we knew of till very recently.

However, certain sections of political and social groups were against this formation, and it all led to a strong, widespread movement to re-separate the Telangana region, and create a separate state by the same name. The struggle and unrest heightened and abated for years, was hushed under wraps for some other, brewed under for some time, but never really ended. The trouble kept bubbling, and came to a head a few years back, when the protests and demands started causing problems to even the common man and the industries/ businesses and establishments in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

And, finally on July 30th, 2013, Telangana was announced as the 29th State of the Republic of India. However, the controversies have not ended with merely the announcement of Telangana. If fact, they may be far from over, says Ganesha. Ganesha adds an astrological perspective to this entire matter, and finds out the influence of planetary forces on this recent turn of events.

As per the formation chart of United Andhra Pradesh, the transiting Saturn and Rahu are passing through the 4th House, over the Natal Sun. Andhra is currently under the influence of Saturn Mahadasha and Rahu Bhukti. Rahu is placed in Scorpio with Saturn. So, the current transit and Dasha period are a clear indication of severe unrest, turbulence and a division of the State. It is evident from history that Andhra and Karnataka regions are very responsive to Saturn’s transits. Particularly, Saturn’s transit in Virgo has always played a crucial role in the emergence or fall of dynasties in Andhra and Karnataka regions. So, it is not surprising that the Telangana movement, which eventually resulted in the division of the State during Saturn’s transit with Rahu in Libra, got intensified when Saturn was transiting through Virgo.

In Republic of India’s country chart, Venus, the Lord of Ascendant, is placed in the Cancer. There is a cluster of five planets in Cancer in the 3rd House, forming a Stellium in India’s horoscope. This indicates highly emotional and dramatic behaviour on the part of the people in India. Besides, Rahu is placed in the Ascendant. Both the factors indicate that Telangana is not the end of the State division process. In all likelihood, further divisions of some Indian States will take place in future. Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand were created on varying dates in November 2000, when as per India’s Country chart, Venus Mahadasha and the Bhukti of Jupiter, the Lord of the 8th House, were in progress. India is currently under the influence of Sun Mahadasha and Mercury Bhukti. Besides, transiting Saturn and Rahu are passing over the Lord of the 8th House, i.e., Jupiter. Ganesha notes that in both the cases of formation of new States, Jupiter has played a significant role.

When formation of Telangana was formally announced on July 30t`h, 2013, the transiting Moon was in Bharani Nakshatra, in close conjunction with Ketu. Whereas, Saturn was aspecting the transiting Moon.

Hence, Ganesha predicts that the implications of this decision will remain extremely unpredictable as far as the state of Andhra Pradesh is concerned. The issue like the actual boundaries of the new State will certainly cause disputes and unrest. The sharing of common resources, particularly rivers and other water bodies may also become a major problem for the authorities. The division may again lead to a period of turbulence and agitation in the region. Moreover, Ganesha predicts that the transiting Rahu’s entry into Chitra constellation on 9th March 2014 will bring many challenges in this area. The new Telangana state will formally be formed. instituted during Rahu’s transit in Virgo between 12th July 2014 and 30th January 2016.
